What is Mitsubishi Electric Cooling?
A ductless mini split has three parts. An indoor unit that mounts high on the wall, an outdoor condenser, and a remote. Refrigerant lines run between the two through a hole about three inches across in the exterior wall. That is the whole install. No ductwork and no soffits to build around it.
Because there is no duct, nothing gets lost on the way to the room. A central system pushes cooled air through the whole house and gives some of it up to long runs and leaky joints. A mini split cools the room it is mounted in. Each indoor unit runs on its own setting, so one room can sit at 68 while the rest of the house stays where it is.
Most single zone jobs take a day. Multi zone systems running three or four indoor units off one condenser take longer.
