Water Heater Repair & Installation in Downers Grove, IL
Home | Water Heaters
Robert Bair has installed, repaired and replaced water heaters in Downers Grove since 1974. We service gas and electric units, tank and tankless, in every major brand. Most “no hot water calls” come down to a thermocouple, a gas control valve, a heating element or a thermostat, and our trucks carry those parts. A tank that has rusted through is a different situation, because that can’t be repaired. In that case we size a replacement to the house and install it. We work throughout Downers Grove, Westmont, Lisle, Hinsdale, Woodridge, Darien and the rest of DuPage County.

INSTALLING BRADFORD WHITE
Why We Install Bradford White Water Heaters
The Water Heaters We Install Aren't Sold in Stores
Bradford White has been building water heaters since 1881. They sell only through wholesale distributors to licensed contractors, and it has stayed that way while most of its competitors moved into retail. The practical side for you is that parts and warranty claims run through the installing contractor instead of a manufacturer hotline. Our distributor stocks the line, we’re working with the same models on every job, and if something fails inside the warranty period you call the people who put it in.
• Vitraglas® tank lining, a glass enamel bonded to the steel to slow the corrosion that ends most water heaters
• Hydrojet® Total Performance System, a cold water inlet designed to keep sediment from settling in the bottom of the tank
• Defender Safety System® flammable vapor ignition resistance on residential gas models
• AeroTherm® heat pump and Infiniti® tankless lines if you want to move off a conventional gas tank

How a Water Heater Works:
A tank water heater draws cold water in through a supply line,
heats it to your thermostat setting, and holds it in an insulated
tank until a tap, shower or appliance calls for it. How much hot
water you get at once depends on tank size, and on recovery rate,
which is how quickly the heater reheats after the tank draws down.
A tankless water heater has no tank. It fires only when a hot water
tap opens, heating water as it passes through, so it isn’t spending
energy keeping a stored tank warm. Its limit isn’t gallons held,
it’s flow rate: how many gallons per minute it can bring up to
temperature at once.
